Quick Start Mini-Tutorials

The quick start mini-tutorials are designed to give the user basic information about a subject without the additional editing and manipulation tools that are generally unnecessary for the average modeling project. Each tutorial will list, but not expound on them, further tools and options available.

Contours

Contours allow us to interpret a 3D surface in a plan view. EasySite contours are meant to be visually effective, and "disposable". At any time in your design process, you can delete the existing set of contours and replace them with a new set to include changes in the grade, or perhaps at a different contour interval.   In generating contours, EasySite applies in ascending order the first five AutoCAD colors: red, yellow, green, cyan, and blue.  The "index" contours are blue.

Command Sequence

EasySite>Settings>Pad Options>Contour Base: Sets the base that the contours are calculated against (default=0.)

EasySite>Settings>Pad Options>Contour Interval: Sets the interval between contour lines (default=1.)

EasySite>Mesh>Contour Mesh: Generates contours on selected meshes (all on same layer) according to settings in Pad Options.

EasySite>Mesh>Delete Contours:  Deletes all contours on the ES_Contour layer.

In the pictures above, the entire mesh was contoured, then the contours were deleted. In the picture to the right, a road was modeled; contours were first generated on the surface and then on the pavement mesh of the new road.  The picture below is a perspective view of the surface, road and contours.
