Beaverton, Oregon - EasySite, a site modeling, and visualization application for AutoCAD Release 14, is released by CAD Easy Corporation®. EasySite is a powerful conceptualization and presentation tool that brings site modeling to AutoCAD users who may have little knowledge of 3D CAD, or who may not be experienced in creating digital terrain models. At a price of $298, EasySite is priced to be within the budget of almost every AutoCAD AEC user, and is being introduced with a standard library of 3D highway, landscape, and building symbols. A full 30 day money back guarantee and free on-line technical support are included. Expanded 3D symbol libraries, each containing more than 150 3D blocks, for builders, planners and landscape architects are available.

HOW IT WORKS

Begin With Almost Any Digital Input

EasySite can create a real surface (tin) using digital data from paper maps (digitizing), ASCII point files (from data collectors, cogo programs, manual entry from field notes), USGS DEM files, 2D or 3D drawings with contours, pictures (scanning), or terrain data generated by hand (such as simply drawing a polygon to represent a site boundary with elevations specified at each corner). Regardless of the input, the 3D surface can be manipulated or redefined using the EasySite tools provided.

Conceptualization and Presentation

EasySite then gives the user the ability to create a true site model simply by drawing 2D entities. For example, if one draws a line or arc, and defines it as a road (using EasySite menus) the line turns into a full 3D road with sidewalks, side ditches, or whatever is specified. If one draws a polygon and defines it as a building pad, EasySite turns it into a full 3D building pad. You can literally create anything (roads, cul-de-sacs, pathways, lakes, golf fairways-greens-tees, rivers, bridges, overpasses, etc.) that you would find in a building or construction site. Additionally, users can include a wide range of landscape features (trees, plants, etc.) to realistically present the landscape.

Adding Entities

As an entity is added to the surface, the user can apply an offset or an elevation, and EasySite automatically cuts the surface as required. There is no need to generate or consider profiles and sections, or to establish gradelines, etc. as would normally be done with a digital terrain model. EasySite does this work transparently and gives an approximate balanced cut-and-fill as it models 3D features into the terrain.

Rendering

Once the site model is developed, EasySite’s detailed 3D surfaces can be rendered to realistically show how a project might look when completed. If changes are needed, one simply edits the drawing and renders again. EasySite can import, as background, surfaces based on USGS DEM files, and drape or plant 3D, 2D, or LO blocks in support of realistic scenes. EasySite models can be rendered using AutoCAD’s rendering capabilities, 3D Studio VIZ, 3D StudioMax, AccuRender, or most other rendering application.

Customization

EasySite is fully customizable to conform to specific State and local codes, or specific design requirements. Users can adapt existing block libraries for use in EasySite, and all entity specifications can be modified on-the-fly through a convenient pop-up screen menu user interface.

Product Specifications

EasySite runs with AutoCAD Release 14 and now AutoCAD 2000. It is network compatible and has the same minimum system requirements as those of AutoCAD. It is priced at $298 (single station license), which includes free EasySite telephone support for 30 days, and free on-line EasySite technical support for as long as one uses the product. Multi-seat site licenses, and annual support contracts are available. EasySite is being introduced with a full 30 day money back guarantee, and comes with a standard set of symbols. Additional EasySite 3D symbol libraries, each containing over 150 3D blocks, for builders, planners and landscape architects are available.
